Synonyms are fraud, swindle, con, hustle, bunko, bunco, etc. One in every ten seniors is a victim of identity theft each year. Americans over sixty lost $4.4 billion in fraud schemes last year. For every case of elder fraud reported, as many as 44 aren't. Does $10.5 billion lost in one year constitute an epidemic? If something sounds too good to be true, it is.
